Reviews & Experience

Nerd’s-eye view: Have Purchased this Hydro Flask Jug and Reviewed”Perfect for soaking dried beans”I perhaps use mine in an unconventional way. I soak dried chickpeas in nearly boiling water in this thing. It is insulated well enough to keep the soak nice and hot overnight, and seals tightly to prevent any contaminants from getting in. Cold water soaking sometimes results in fermentation (if you see tiny bubbles rising out of your soaking chickpeas the next day, that might be what’s going on), but soaking with water that’s hotter than 160˚F will kill any yeast or bacteria that would otherwise ferment your beans. For this purpose, this insulated container is fantastic. I endorse this as an insulated dried bean soaking vessel. But if you want to use it to transport cold liquids, I’m sure it’s great for that too.
